2026 Michigan Spring Turkey Hunting Season Opens

Michigan's 2026 spring turkey hunting season begins April 18, with multiple hunt periods and management units across the state, including the Southern Lower Peninsula (Unit ZZ) which covers Metro Detroit area. New this year, all successful turkey hunters must report their harvest within 72 hours via Michigan.gov/DNRHarvestReport or the DNR Hunt Fish app. Hunters should review updated turkey management unit boundaries, reduced from 14 to three units, and new youth hunting opportunities.
